“The Spotlight Scholarship helps me stay focused on my academic and extracurricular goals. I recently began a NASA Space Grant to develop a cold-gas propulsion system for small satellites, and this scholarship makes it possible to dedicate my energy to this initiative without distraction. The local angle of the Spotlight award is also meaningful because of the strong sense of community and kinship the program represents. As I attend college in New England, it has been deeply reassuring to know the support I receive comes from people back home who genuinely want me to succeed. I’m honored to be a part of the Spotlight family and receive such sincere support.”
-Ethan Kim, Sophomore at Brown University, Spotlight Scholarship Recipient

“I didn’t know an organization like this existed, and I feel truly fortunate to have found it. It is well-run and provides meaningful and fulfilling volunteer opportunities. Members show up with real dedication and warmth. I never anticipated that joining to volunteer would also mean forming genuine friendships along the way, but that’s exactly what happened.“
-Christine Zepp, Diablo Valley Giving Partners Member

“One of the most meaningful opportunities I share with my students is the Diablo Valley Giving Partners scholarships. For many students, the dream of attending college is accompanied by financial uncertainty. These local scholarships do more than provide monetary support – they provide possibility; they open doors that might otherwise remain closed and send a powerful message that hard work, perseverance, and aspirations truly matter.”
-David Walters, College Park High School, College and Career Advisor

“I’ve been a Volunteen for 3 years. This auxiliary has opened my eyes to the gift of serving my community. I love working at the Giving Partners Thrift Shop, packing warmth packs for unhoused students, and being a part of something that is bigger than me. Because of my work with Volunteens, I aim to work with kids in my future career.”
-Kylie Ikeda, Volunteens Member

“My entire family has shopped at the Giving Partners Thrift Shop for as long as I can remember. We thrift for so many reasons – for the positive environmental impact, to support our local nonprofit, to find unique gifts, and even to enjoy some retail therapy! And I appreciate donating back to the thrift shop too. My daily wardrobe ALWAYS includes something thrifted, just ask me any day! “
-Grace Dixon, Office Administrator and Project Coordinator, Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, Giving Partners Thrift Shop Devotee
